Wedding Photography in the Beautiful Lorne Rainforest
What do I say? It was the wedding I always wanted to photograph. Al my brother in law and his beautiful fiance Amanda have been together almost as long as I've been with my husband Chris. A few friendly hints from family over the years and finally they got engaged! Wink wink! I may have even persuaded my daughter to hint to them that she wanted to be their flower girl ... about 3 years ago I think!
Anyway the day finally arrived and I jostled to the front of the queue to make sure I got to take their photos. I was most honoured to help and take part in their day.
Keeping in theme with Al and Amanda's beautiful eco-friendly-kindred-souls, the wedding day took place on the edge of Victoria's most gorgeous rain forests, the Otways.
Getting ready for the groom was at the beautiful Banskia Cottages which is tucked away in the forest just up the Deans Marsh Road, and Amanda got ready with makeup and hair by artist Sophie Knox in the quaint little Japanese style cottage retreats at Qdos, Lorne.
The wedding itself was held in the unique premises of Qdos Arts. The ceremony was conducted amongst the sculptures in the grounds of Qdos by the lovely Megan of The Commitment Company of Melbourne. The sun came out at all the right moments and wealth of stunning flowers adorned everywhere...Gillian Polland you are legend!
I whisked the bridal party off down the road down an exquisite little path into the rain forest with a magical little orchard surprise. Plenty of Moët was sipped and many laughs were had. The bridesmaids were looking gorgeous in red and the groomsmen very fine in their blue suits. Amanda and Al were perfectly matching; Amanda looking divine in her Marianna Hardwick dress and Al handsome indeed in his tailor made suit.
The reception ensued with an amazing feast provided by Qdos surrounded by works of art and the most amazing and fitting decor. The guests were given little native trees to plant - perfect gift as Al works in Landcare Australia. Also guests were given the opportunity to take home posies of gorgeous flowers - Gillian Pollard again - from the indoor forest of flowers. Wow! The speeches were given, wine was enjoyed, and the night was danced away.
Thank you Al and Amanda. I may be extolling your amazing day more than most, but I am one very biased photographer and overly emotional...I might even be sitting here tearing up as I type.
